How to work with the investor database efficiently

Managing the investor database during fundraising is not easy, especially when you have dozens to thousands of contacts. We tried different CRM and an excel format, but an Airtable template worked best. It saved us a lot of time and helped keep and track all investor contacts in a single place. See the example of this database in our previous post, "How to write an engaging investors' cold outreach campaign."

We think that the parameter "Status" is one of the most important, as you can track every investor and filter those with who you are interacting with or who are not in your industry/stage, or who are investing at later stages. Do not delete investors at later stages from your database. You can send them information letters to keep them in the loop with your progress. And it may happen that some of them will be interested in your startup at an early stage.

Such parameters as Status, Location, Source of the contact, Interest fields, Stage of investment will help to create more personalized reach-out campaigns.

We also track every interaction with potential investors, recording it in the column "Interactions". Thus we can keep the complete history of our communication with the contacts.
